Sophie Okonedo

Okonedo trained at RADA and her early work includes plays at the Young Vic, the National Theatre and the Royal Court such as I Just Stopped by to See the Man (2000) and Been So Long (2001). Her film appearances include Dirty Pretty Things (2002) directed by Stephen Frears and Hotel Rwanda (2004) for which she was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. She was nominated for Best Actress at the British Independent Film Awards for her performance in Skin (2009) and played Winnie Mandela in the BBC film Mrs Mandela (2010). She was appointed CBE in the 2019 New Year's Honours.
