Rower. Read Geography at St Catherine's College, Oxford. President of the Boat Club. Took part in the University's winning team in the inter-varsity Boat Race (1991-2). In partnership with Steve Redgrave won Gold medals for Great Britain at the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games. Awarded a CBE in 2000. With James Cracknell, won the World Rowing Championship in Seville in September 2002. Gold medallist in the Athens 2004 Olympics for the men's coxless fours, with James Cracknell, Ed Coode and Steve Williams.
