Lumley made her screen debut in 1969 in the film Some Girls Do and was cast as a Bond girl in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, released the same year. Became a household name in 1976 as the karate-chopping 'Purdey' in The New Avengers. Followed by playing Sapphire in television series Sapphire and Steel (1979) and roles in two of the Pink Panther films (1982 and 1983). Lumley is best known as her character Patsy Stone in the long-running television series Absolutely Fabulous. Stage credits include Jonathan Miller's production of The Cherry Orchard(2007) at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield and David Hirson's La Bête at the Comedy Theatre in 2010.
