Established in practice from 1981, Pawson's style is strictly minimalist. Among his projects have been a new theatre for the Young Vic, a house for Doris Saatchi, a series of galleries for Leslie Waddington, a Calvin Klein store in Manhattan and Jigsaw's new shop in Bond Street, London, (1996).
