Comedienne, actress and singer, Ward made her debut in pantomime at the Alexandra Palace, Birmingham, 1905. During the war she appeared in many shows, including We're All In It at the Empire Theatre, London (1916), and toured alongside her husband Shaun Glenville in Happy Go Lucky (1918). She recorded a number of songs written by Fred Godfrey, including It's A Way They Have In The Navy (1914) which he co-wrote with Tom Mellor and Harry Gifford, and Take Me Back To Dear Old Blighty, which he wrote for her in 1916.
