Tord Boontje

(1968-), Industrial and furniture designer

Dutch product designer based in the UK since 1992 when he studied industrial design at the Royal College of Art. Boontje is concerned with recycling issues, producing work with a romantic aesthetic which crosses over between art and design, mixing the handmade and the machine-made, the historical and the digital. Shortlisted in 2003 for the Designer of the Year award Boontje's designs include crystal chandeliers for Swarovski and 'Wild Silk' an installation with Hermès at London's Design Museum.
