Jamie McKendrick

Born in Liverpool, McKendrick went on to study at Nottingham University and taught for a time at the University of Salerno in Italy. He is the author of five collections of poetry, including The Marble Fly for which he won the Forward Poetry Prize in 1997. McKendrick's work is richly visual and infused with vibrant images often inspired by the world of classical Italy. In the 1990s, Jamie McKendrick was named as one of the Poetry Society's 'New Generation' poets and has worked on a translation of the poetry of Valerio Magrelli as well as editing The Faber Book of 20th-Century Italian Poems.
