David Jowett Greaves Oxtoby

David Oxtoby is an artist associated with the Pop Art movement. Since the 1960s, his paintings have been devoted to the portrayal of popular musicians. His subjects range from the stars of American rock n roll and jazz, including Chuck Berry and Bob Dylan, to his contemporaries in Britain, such as The Who, Led Zeppelin and David Bowie. Following training at the Bradford Regional College of Art and the Royal Academy Schools, he began exhibiting alongside Pop artists such as David Hockney, Derek Boshier and Peter Blake. In 1963 he had solo exhibitions at Gallery One, London and the Arnolfini Gallery, Bristol. He has exhibited widely including a solo exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in 1972.
