Giorgio de Chirico
(1888-1978), PainterSitter in 1 portrait
Born in Greece of Sicilian parents, de Chirico began to paint dreamlike pictures in the 1910s which in turn influenced the Surrealists with whom he exhibited. His 'metaphysical paintings' dated after 1915 included semi-abstract figures. In the 1930s he returned to an academic style and in 1945 published his autobiography.
