Playwright, actor and television presenter. O'Brien shot to fame with his musical The Rocky Horror Show which premiered at the Royal Court in the Theatre Upstairs in 1973, directed by Jim Sharman. The play later transferred to the West End and the film version, The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), has made it world-famous.
