Jim Al-Khalili

Theoretical nuclear physicist and senior lecturer in the Department of Physics at the University of Surrey. Al-Khalili is Chair of the Institute of Physics Nuclear and Particle Physics Division and a member of the Council of the British Association. In 2000 he received an Institute of Physics Award for the Public Awareness of Physics. Has published several books on popular science including Quantum: A Guide for the Perplexed (2003). 'Nuclear physics explains how all the atoms in my body were made inside some star billions of years ago! To know that we are all made of stardust is beautiful and awe-inspiring.'
