Mathematician and Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Bath. Since 2000 Budd has been Director of the Centre for Nonlinear Mechanics and Chair of Mathematics at the Royal Institution of Great Britain. Research interests include scientific computation, industrial mathematics and the public understanding of science. Panel member of EPSRC Public Understanding Science Committee. With Christopher Sangwin published Mathematics Galore! - Masterclasses, Workshops and Team Projects in Mathematics and its Applications (2001), which aims to enthuse young people, their parents and teachers.
