Sir Kenneth Charles Branagh

Irish-born Branagh trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London (of which he became President in 2015), joining the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1984. He has directed and starred in film adaptations of Shakespeare, including Henry V (1989) and As You Like It (2006). He directed the films Thor (2011) and an adaptation of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express (2017) as well as a season of plays at the Garrick Theatre (2015-16). Other notable film and TV series include Frankenstein (1994), Wallander (2008-16) and Dunkirk (2017). He was knighted in 2012. In 2017, he received BAFTA's Albert R. Broccoli Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Entertainment and the Freedom of Belfast award.
