Irek Javdatovich Mukhamedov

Russian born dancer, Mukhamedov made his debut with the Bolshoi Ballet in 1981 as Spartacus. He first came to the attention of London audiences when the Bolshoi visited in 1986. Four years later he joined The Royal Ballet as a principal dancer and formed an admired partnership with Durante. Noted for his dramatic interpretations of MacMillan's work, he inspired the choreographer to create roles for him in Winter Dreams (1991) and The Judas Tree (1992). Mayerling was revived for him in 1992 and in the same year he formed his own company, Irek Mukhamedov and Company. He joined Elmhurst School of Dance as a teacher in 2005.
