(1928-1995), Broadcaster, novelist, poet and essayistSitter in 1 portrait
Educated at London University, the Jamaican broadcaster and writer had an extensive career working for the BBC World Service, and was founder member of the Caribbean Artists' Movement. Books and anthologies include Anancy, Traveller, In the Border Country and Other Stories, A Quality of Violence, Havana Journal and Georgetown Journal. Prior to his death he spent many years teaching at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
