Artist of 1 portrait
One of the only truly abstract wood engravers, Garrett had a prodigious output, but his importance really lies in his promotion of the medium, both as long-standing President of the Society of Wood Engravers and through his books. He was the author of the first major book covering the history of British wood engraving, A History of British Wood Engraving (1978), and of British Wood Engraving of the 20th Century (1980).
