Laurie began his career in comedy at Cambridge University, where he performed with Stephen Fry in the award-winning 1981 Footlights revue. This was the start of a highly successful acting and writing partnership, which included, Alfresco; The Young Ones; A Bit of Fry and Laurie; Jeeves and Wooster, and the Blackadder series. In the mid-1990s Laurie moved into films, music and writing, and away from the 'upper-class twit' roles for which he had become famous. Since 2004 he has starred as a serious actor in the American medical drama House, winning two Golden Globe Awards. His album Let Them Talk was released in 2011.
