(1959-), Composer and conductor

Sitter in 1 portrait
MacMillan worked as a lecturer and performer before making his name as the pre-eminent Scottish composer of his generation. After the successful premiere of Tryst (1990) he became Affiliate Composer of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. A Roman Catholic, many of MacMillan's works have a religious focus, including the percussion concerto Veni, veni, Emmanuel (1992), written for Dame Evelyn Glennie. Other works include his second opera The Sacrifice (2007) and the St John Passion (2008).

We would welcome any information that adds to and enhances our information and understanding about a particular portrait, sitter or artist.
