Oscar Lewenstein
(1917-1997), Theatre impresario and film producerSitter in 1 portrait
Lewenstein, who had been chairman of the English Stage Company and had worked as a commercial impresario, became artistic director in 1972. Over the next three years such important playwrights as Osborne, Wesker, Bond and Beckett were included in the programme. In 1973 the Court also premiered what was to become a cultural icon of the Twentieth century: The Rocky Horror Show.
