Kenny Lynch
(1938-2019), Singer and actorSitter in 2 portraits
Born in Stepney, London, Lynch was one of thirteen children. After leaving school he worked as a semi-professional singer and became one of the few black singers to establish themselves on the 1960s British pop scene. He had a number of UK hit singles, including Up on the Roof (1962). As a songwriter Lynch collaborated with many artists. He appeared in films including Carry on Loving (1970) and The Playbirds (1978). In 1971 he was awarded an OBE.
