Andrew Roberts

Writer. Roberts studied Modern History at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. He began his career as freelance journalist and book reviewer in 1987 and since 1999 has been a regular contributor to The Sunday Telegraph. His books include The Holy Fox: a life of Lord Halifax (1991), Eminent Churchillins (1994) and Salisbury: Victorian Titan (1999), for which he was won the James Stern Silver Pen Award and the Wolfson Award for History. In 2003 the publication of his book Hitler and Churchill: Secrets of Leadership coincided with Roberts's four part BBC2 history series. In 2005 he published the the first in a new series of history books of History's turning points, Waterloo: Napoleon's Last Gamble.
