In 2004, at the age of twenty-three and having graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) the previous year, Whishaw came to prominence as Hamlet in Trevor Nunn’s production. His career in theatre, film and television since has included playing anguished heroes – Sebastian Flyte in Brideshead Revisited (2008), and John Keats in Bright Star (2009). Other notable screen roles include Richard II (2012) and several appearances as secret-service scientist ‘Q’ in the James Bond franchise. In 2018 he stars in Nicholas Hytner's production of Julius Caesar at the Bridge Theatre, London.
