I believe this portrait to be Anna Isabella Parnther 1811-1899 who married Henry Cotterill Bishop of Edinburgh. She was born in Jamaica. Her husband was previously Archbishop of Grahamstown South Africa. This is the family story but it is possible and perhaps more likely that the portrait is of her mother Frances Ann Parnther nee Bernard. She does not look like a bishop's wife and perhaps the style of her dress is more typical of 1810 -20 rather than the 1830s. I would be interested to know more of Arminius Mayer and will look him up.
