Douglas Garven Alexander

Appointed Minister of State for Europe in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in May 2005. Alexander studied Politics and Modern History at the University of Edinburgh and at the University of Pennsylvania. He began work as a Parliamentary Researcher and speechwriter for Gordon Brown and was elected MP for Paisley South in 1997. Appointed Minister for e-Commerce and Competitiveness in 2001 and in 2004 became Minister for Trade Investment and Foreign Affairs.
