Secretary of State for International Development since 2003. Benn attended Holland Park Comprehensive School and received a degree in Russian and East European Studies from the University of Sussex in 1974. He served for twenty years on Ealing Borough Council and was elected MP for Leeds Council in 1999. Benn was Home Office Minister for Prisons and Probation from 2002 to 2003 and in September 2003 was appointed the Prime Minister's G8 Africa Personal Representative.
