I'm currently researching Claude Lowther for a historical journal. The 1902 portrait resembles a caricature of him by E.T. Reed in 'Punch', 15 Sept 1903. The 1919 portrait appears to show a remarkable change of image, but little ageing. I suspect the answer may be that the 1919 portrait is actually of Claude Barrington. 27 years younger, he had the same address as Claude Lowther in both 1911 and 1921. His relationship I have yet to determine. My reason for thinking this is photographs of the Marlborough Cricket XI of 1914, plus a house group, supplied to me by the College, in which Claude Barrington resembels the 19i9 photograph you have catalogued as Claude Lowther.
