Head of Rank flour milling company. Brother was the famous film director. Had homes in central London and Oughborough at Godstone Surrey. Showed dogs and shorthorn cattle. Had hare coursing kennels in Ireland and owned Druids Lodge racing stables on Salisbury Plain. Methodist, although married twice. Gave to many charitable causes. Died of pneumonia after visiting a health farm.
