John Arthur Dewar was born 3 August, 1891 and he died 15 August, 1954. He was the son of Charles Dewar, (son of John Dewar and Jane Gow), and Jane Greig Smart, (daughter of David Smart). John Arthur Dewar married Kathleen Beart, daughter of Charles Beart (who lived in Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa) in 1932. It was Kathleen's second marriage, her first being to Ronald Fitzroy Rous McNeill. Kathleen died 5 July, 1966. John Arthur Dewar and Kathleen Dewar (nee Beart) had no children. John Arthur Dewar was educated at Aldenham School, Elstree, Hertfordshire, and he fought in WWI. He was Chairman and Managing Director of John Dewar and Sons, Distillers. Jean Hill
