Minister of State in the Department for Trade and Industry since May 2005. Michael was elected MP for Cardiff South and Penarth in 1987. He was made Deputy Home Secretary in the Home Office in 1997 where he was responsible for the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, including the introduction Anti-social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs). In 1998 he was made Secretary of State for Wales. Appointed Minister of State for Rural Affairs in 2001 and in 2004 he presided over the enactment of the Hunting Act.
