(1814-1854), Chartist and medical practitioner

Sitter in 1 portrait
McDouall was a prosperous surgeon who became radicalised after seeing the plight of factory workers. He was known for his passionate temperament and became the foremost advocate of attaining reform through physical force. He was imprisoned for sedition in 1839 but this served only to enhance his reputation.
