Ioan Gruffudd

Born in Cardiff, Gruffudd appeared in the Welsh soap opera Pobol y Cwm (People of the Valley) as a young teenager, before gaining a place at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1992. He won his first major role a few years later in the television film Poldark (1996) and played the British sea captain Horatio Hornblower in the Hornblower series (1998-2003). Notable film roles include John Gray in Wilde (1997), Officer Lowe in Titanic (1997) and Lancelot in King Arthur (2004).
