Mary Doreen Archer (née Weeden), Baroness Archer

After studying physical chemistry at Imperial College, London, Baroness Archer began working with scientist George Porter at the Royal Institution. Her area of research is photoelectrochemistry and solar power conversion. Much of her efforts have focused on energy efficiency and between 1988-2000 she was chairman of the National Energy Foundation. Archer has lectured in chemistry at Newnham and Trinity College, Cambridge University. Chairman for several NHS Trusts, in 2012 she was appointed DBE for services to the NHS. Archer is married to the novelist and former Conservative MP Jeffrey Archer.
