Zeinab Mohammed-Khair Badawi

Broadcaster and journalist, Badawi was born in Sudan and has lived in Britain since the age of two. She studied Politics and Economics at St. Hilda's College, Oxford and Middle Eastern Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. She began her career as a broadcast journalist for Yorkshire Television from 1982 to 1986 and then for BBC Manchester (1986-7), joining ITN in 1989. A reporter and presenter for Channel 4 News, alongside Jon Snow, from 1998 to 1999, Badawi joined the BBC in 1998. She presented radio and news programmes, including Westminster Live on BBC TV and was appointed presenter of BBC 4's international news bulletin The World in 2005.
