I met this gentleman a few times at his 'country' house in a beautiful elevated setting between Folkestone and Hythe in the 1970s.
I remember well being in awe of such a distinguished businessman.
At the time I was the first graduate trainee for a small but fast growing company called Saga, and the connection was that he was the stepfather of the wife of my boss at the time, the MD of Saga.
We played table tennis. He was rather good at it.
He won, I lost. He smiled.
One of many great memories of a different era at the dawn of my adult life.
