Sol Campbell

(1974-), Footballer

Sulzeer Jeremiah ('Sol') Campbell

Sitter in 2 portraits
Campbell was born to Jamaican parents in Plaistow, East London. He began his career with Tottenham Hotspur (December 1992) where he successfully captained the team to a League Cup final win over Leicester City (1999). In a divisive move to rival north London club Arsenal in 2001, he enjoyed immediate success, winning two Premier League and two FA Cup winner's medals. Having already won caps for the England under-21s and England B team, Campbell gained 73 caps in all for England, his first aged 21. Notably, he was England's second-youngest captain after Bobby Moore (aged 23). In 2006 he represented England for the sixth time consecutively in a major tournament, becoming the only player at the time to have done so.
