The son of Richard Barwell also named Richard was the child of Richard Barwell's first marriage to Elizabeth Jane Sanderson, a celebrated beauty in Calcutta at the time. Richard Barwell junior was born in Calcutta in November 1778 and died in 1801 aged 23. Richard Barwell senior went on to marry 16 year old Catherine Coffin on 24th June 1785. Catherine also appeared in paintings and is mentioned here: http://blog.wellcomelibrary.org/2010/05/item-of-the-month-may-2010-defying-old-graviations-sway/ Ignore the paragraph about Rebecca Lyne and Mrs Seaforth being the same person, that is not true. Hariet Seaforth and Rebecca Lyne were both mistresses of Richard Barwell senior and both bore him illlegitimate children.
