Married to Anne Kent, author of Evelyn Stuart by Adrian (pseudonym). He was the editor of the Sun Newspaper which he purchased from his father-in-law, Murdo Young (Anne's father) the proprietor. He was a good friend to Charles Dickens. His grandfather was William Kent RN who was involved in the settlement of Australia and has an street named after him in Sydney and a group of islands named after him over there also.
