James Burnet was born in Seton in 1759, the second son of James Burnet, farmer in Seton, and Margaret Muir, and died in Seton in 1814 from 'black jaundice'. James Burnet, farmer in Seton, born in 1724, was the 4th(?) son of Charles Burnet, joiner and tenant of Caponhall Farm, Tranent and Jean Waterstone.
