Susanne was a remarkable undergraduate at Girton College, Cambridge (Modern and Medieval Languages (French and German), who was a live wire in undergraduate life, and went on to a brilliant journalistic career (marrying George Perry, another prominent journalist). Sadly, her later years were blighted by what we now know as bipolar disease. She will always be remembered by her contemporaries as one of the guiding lights of 1950s Cambridge.
