Raymond Gubbay(1946-), Impresario and classical music promoter
Sitter in 1 portrait
Gubbay started organising his own promotions at small venues in 1966; by the end of that decade he was developing shows for the South Bank Centre and later the Royal Albert Hall. With the opening of the Barbican Centre in 1982, he was able to extend the number of London concerts, introducing classical music to new audiences through popular programming and star performers. His live operatic performances at the Royal Albert Hall have enjoyed great success, a formula that has also worked in the promotion of ballet and West End shows.
