Sydney Allison was a neurologist, practicing in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast.
As a medical student spent much of the first world war as a Surgeon Probationer on destroyers.
He retained an interest in the sea, serving in the RNVR, in Belfast, and through the second world war.
In addition to his medical publications, he wrote on HMS Caroline (then the training ship for the Ulster division of the Royal Naval Reserve - now a museum ship in the Titanic Quarter in Belfast) and on Surgeon Probationers (published posthumously).
