Emeritus Rouse Ball Professor of Mathematics, University of Oxford. Born in Colchester, Essex, Penrose studied mathematics at University College London and St John's College, Cambridge. He is highly regarded for his many discoveries and publications in general relativity and cosmology. Penrose won the prestigious Wolf Foundation Prize for Physics.
