Alexander Weatherson

Born in Nottinghamshire, Alexander Weatherson finished his art education in London at the Royal Academy Schools and the Courtauld Institute. Victor Musgrave represented Weatherson at Gallery One from 1955, giving him his first solo exhibition in February 1958. His paintings, collage and mixed media works were often influenced by music. Weatherson exhibited at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (1964) and the Arts Spectrum at Alexandra Palace (1971) where he was photographed by Ida Kar's pupil John Couzins. From 1968 until 1991 he was Principal lecturer in Fine Art at Leeds Polytechnic/Leeds Metropolitan University.
