Born Eliza Tattersall, daughter of Richard Tattersall of the Tattersall Livestock Auctioneers. She was married to Charles Barker Courtney of Barker Coachmakers. Her sister Julia was married to William Charles Courtney, brother of Charles Barker Courtney with whom he was in partnership. Eliza and Charles Barker Courtney had no issue. Julia and William Charles Courtney had 4 daughters before her death in 1850.
Barkers Coachmakers were responsible for building the funeral carriage for the coffin of Duke of Wellington which is still on view at Statfield Saye House. the home of the Duke of Wellington.
