Byramjee Jeejeebhoy

(1822-1890), Indian businessman and education philanthropist

Sitter in 1 portrait
Nineteenth-century Parsi businessman and philanthropist Sir Byramjee Jeejeebhoy founded several educational and medical institutions in India including The Byramjee Jeejeebhoy College, the Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Parsee Charitable Institution in Mumbai and the Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Medical College in Pune. In October 1830, he leased from the East India Company seven villages between Jogeshwari and Borivili, totalling over 12,000 acres. He also owned Bandra Land's End where the Taj Hotel is now located. He built much of what is commonly known as Bandra Bandstand with his own money and opened it to the public. Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Group, which is still in the hands of the family, is reported by The Times of India to be among nine landowners said to cumulatively control a fifth of Mumbai's habitable area.

Our school name Sir B.J. Girls High School is named after him ( B for Byramji J for Jijibhoy). I am trying to find more detail.
As when I studied only connecting memory was we used to have holiday on Parsi New Year's Day, unlike other schools in area. Talking about 40 years back.
