Frances Garnet Wolseley was a pioneering gardener at a time when women were excluded from horticultural colleges in Britain. There's more about her here https://vote100lewes.wordpress.com/2018/10/13/100-lewes-women-20-viscountess-wolsley/ The article includes a link to her book Gardening for Women and a Radio 4 Woman's Hour programme about her.
