He served as Bishop of Jamaica in the early 20th century. ( I could dig out the precise dates if need be.) In 1919 he founded a school in Mandeville, Jamaica, which was for some 40 years modelled on a British prep school, boys only, ages 8 to 13, fee paying, boarding and day, preparing boys for admission to senior schools in Jamaica and also for Common Entrance to public schools in the UK. In the late 50s it grew into a senior school through to age 18, still fee paying, then in 1975 became a state day school. Now over 1000 pupils, co-ed, one of the best schools in Jamaica. I taught there in the early 60s and served as head in the early 70s, overseeing the change in status to a non fee paying state school.
