Harry Hancock, the eldest of four children, was my mother’s brother, my uncle and my godfather. He was an entrtainer comedian who worked for C.B. Cochran, the producer and impresario, in the 1920s. Later he became an estate agent and property developer. His theatrical skills served him well as an auctioneer. For a time in the late 1930s and early 1940s he served as an agent for the then Duke of Kent. He lived at Gerard’s Cross and his main office was located in Uxbridge. He died in the 1970s, leaving a widow and one son, both of whom have since died.
