Poet, novelist and critic. Graves served in the Royal Welch Fusiliers 1914-9, an experience recalled in Goodbye to All That (1929). He was also the author of several volumes of poetry and a series of historical novels including I Claudius (1934) and Count Belisarius (1938). Graves lived in Majorca from 1946 until his death in 1985.
