Adelina Patti
(1843-1919), Singer; sister of Carlotta PattiSitter associated with 56 portraits
Patti was one of the greatest opera singers of the era. Born in Spain to Italian parents, Patti made her debut on 14 May 1861 at the Royal Italian Opera, Covent Garden in Bellini's La Sonnambula. Admired by composers including Giuseppe Verdi, her public career as a 'coloratura soprano' lasted nearly sixty years and is virtually without parallel.
